Michael Rakes
Senior Pastor
Michael has served as Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist since 2016.
Prior to that, he served other churches as an Associate Pastor and a bi-vocational Youth Minster while also teaching science and coaching soccer at a few different NC high schools.
Michael graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest , NC with a Master of Divinity in 2009. He also has a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from Gardner-Webb University.
Michael and April have been married since 2007. They have three wonderful and very active children that help to keep their family calendar full.
One of his most life changing ministry experiences was when he and April spent a summer doing missions work in West Africa.
In his free time, Michael enjoys working with his hands, being outside, and spending time with family and friends whether it's riding roller coasters or family game nights (both can be intense).
In ministry, Michael is passionate about seeing people transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and living that transformation out each and everyday of their lives.
